Second District Supervisor Gregg Hart asked if there was a better deal if the Board chose not to adopt the contract extension, to which Stokes said it wouldn’t be possible to execute an additional amendment.
“Holding onto the possibility that we might somehow get a better deal from the DWR at this point I think is impossible,” Stokes said.
First District Supervisor Das Williams questioned whether it would save the water districts money.
“I still think this is chess, it ain’t checkers. It’s very complex, arcane stuff and it’s difficult to see into the future on which route is riskier than the other,” he said. “I have a lot of heartburn about this amendment. It is hard for me though to argue that if the districts themselves are certain that it’s going to save money and are willing to take that risk.”
