Harris Academy Tottenham denies institutional racism accusations

A headteacher at a Tottenham school has been accused of institutional racism against black students. Harris Academy Tottenham, which is part of the Harris Federation, was accused by a former PE teacher of permanently excluding three black Year 11 pupils, and introducing a “zero-tolerance’ behaviour policy disproportionate to ethnic minorities and special educational needs (SEN) students. The Harris Federation has since said that its executive headteacher has become victim of death threats following a petition calling for his resignation, launched by the former teacher Joshua Adusei As a result the petition, which was focused on alleged discrimination, became the catalyst of a police investigation after at least four death threats were made.

Met Police launch probe after headteacher received death threats

A headteacher has received several death threats after being the subject of a petition to have him sacked over alleged racism in school. Almost 6,000 people have signed the petition for Dr Lawrence Foley to resign from his role as principal of the Harris Academy in Tottenham. It was launched last week by the school s former PE teacher Joshua Adusei, alleging discrimination against black students and staff and sparking protests. The petition claims Dr Foley has put in place policies that disproportionately affect BAME students and has bullied staff into accepting redundancy.  Police have been brought in to conduct patrols of a north London school after headmaster Dr Lawrence Foley was the subject of several deaths amid racism claims by a former teacher
