The solar array is the first of four pilot sites delivered as part of Project PROMETHEUS to increase renewable energy across the defence estate. Spanning approximately four hectares, Centrica Business Solutions started construction of the 2.3MW solar farm earlier this year. ABB UK identified that business mileage was the second highest contributor to carbon emissions in 2019. Once the transition to an all-electric fleet is completed, the company estimates its carbon footprint could be reduced by around 20%.
