Bear sighted outside Walmart in Ridgecrest later captured after falling asleep in tree Ridgecrest Daily Independent The California Department of Fish and Wildlife captured a male bear after it was spotted in the southeastern portion of Ridgecrest on Saturday morning, according to Ridgecrest Police Department Captain Aaron Tucker. CDFW officials caught the bear around noon Saturday. Tucker said the bear is safe, uninjured and appears to be healthy. No one was injured during the incident. CDFW will release the bear into its proper habitat, according to Tucker. The bear which appears to be a black bear was first reported to the Ridgecrest Police Department around 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning, Tucker said. ....

Tribute has been paid to unsung Spalding hero | Updated: 08:51, 03 April 2021 Friends and family have paid tributes to an unsung hero of the district who died recently. Mollie Wheeler died on March 19 aged 88, but leaves behind an impressive legacy of community work that touched many lives across South Holland. She helped Spalding Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society (SADOS) - selling programmes at their events - and also gave her time generously to the Royal British Legion, Western Front Association and the League of Friends of Johnson Hospital. Mollie Wheeler (45612347) Mrs Wheeler also attended the St Mary and St Nicholas Parish Church, was a member of the Mothersâ Union and latterly went to social events at Broad Street Methodist Church. ....
Dorothy Bruce On June 16th, 1931, Paul and Eva Thorsen welcomed their fourth child and second daughter on the family farm southwest of Gordon, Nebraska. They named their baby girl Dorothy Alice. In addition to her parents, she was welcomed into the world by her two older brothers, Don, Dwight, and her older sister, Esther. Dorothy attended country school through the 8th grade and in 1945 started her freshman year at Gordon High School. She eventually graduated with the GHS class of 1948. In the spring of 1948, Dorothy enrolled at Chadron State Teachers College and began work on a teaching certificate which she completed in 1950. Following her teacher education, Dorothy taught in several country schools east of Gordon. In the early 50s, she enrolled in Midwest Bible School and it was while attending Bible School that she met a dashing young man named Morey Bruce. The two began a courtship which eventually led to engagement and marriage on May 17, 1953. ....
