Sot nat so a couple of years ago, sponsors made the switch to an alldelivery holiday service. Some volunteers have a different job now. But all still get the thrill of helping out. You feel this aura coming over the group of people when everybodys pulling on the rope at the same time. Its just a fantastic feeling and theres no shortage of volunteers. One hundred 30 people signed up to help and there was still a waiting list of others willing. One family took the participation prize. Nine members ranging in age of 65 to 8 manned the serving line. Everybody came last night for thanksgiving so we said how about if we do this and everybody was like i think its a great idea whats fun about this job. On this thanksgiving day, while many people will enjoy a large, warm meal with family and friends, thats not an option for everyone. The serving starts at 11am, but it usually takes a while longer for the diners to start rolling in. Last year they served 125 meals. The biggest meals progrma in linn county both started and actually wrapped up early this morning. Transamerica sponsored a dinner for seniors for the 36th year in cooperation with aging services, but all of the 900 meals there are packaged up and delivered to homes early in the morning.
