John Oliver Jamieson in custody charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. A Timaru man charged over an assault in the town on Thursday night has been remanded in custody. John Oliver Jamieson has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in relation to an assault which left a man needing hospital treatment for injuries to his hand at an address on Glen St, Timaru, about 7.30pm on Thursday. Jamieson has also been charged with breaching release conditions by failing to attend drug and alcohol counselling. The 33-year-old was remanded in custody without plea when he appeared before Judge Joanna Maze in the Timaru District Court on Friday morning, to reappear on May 11.

A convicted killer has admitted levelling a shotgun at two people while he and his friend demanded a car, before the pair fled police at more than twice the speed limit. On April 4, when New Zealand was under Covid-19 Alert Level 4 lockdown rules, John Oliver Jamieson grabbed his shotgun and travelled with friend Daniel Kieran Chapman to the South Canterbury home of an associate who had disposed of a vehicle they had entrusted him to look after. Jamieson, 33, and 34-year-old Chapman pleaded guilty to the commission of a crime with a firearm when they appeared before Judge Joanna Maze in the Timaru District Court on Thursday.
