Working with alpacas for more than two decades has not lost its appeal for Grande Prairie resident Jody Pellerin.
Pellerin, who runs Backyard Alpacas with her husband Kevin, started with first-generation descendants of animals imported from Peru.

Alpacas’ famous fleece is harvested without killing or hurting the animal, the ease of handling them appealing to Pellerin.
“I like working with the fleece because there is so much you can do with it between felting and spinning,” Pellerin said. “(Alpacas) are easy to manage. A small person can handle them as long as you get a well-mannered one, which most of them are.”
