Nellie Arnold was surprised with hundreds of cards at Oldbury House Care Home in Eastington yesterday (Thursday). In a bid make Nellie s birthday extra special, care home staff had invited members of the community to send her a card, with the aim of reaching 100 cards. The community took the call out to heart and so far the centenarian has received over 300 cards, including one from the postman himself. And on top of all of cards, Nellie received lots flowers, balloons and gifts too. Staff held a party for her at Oldbury House, which included visits from family members, an online chat with her daughter in America, a telegram from the Queen and a performance from an entertainer.
