Her most recent book is bound in wedlock. A book about africanamericans and marriage in the 19th century. The winner of multiple awards including the joan kelly memorial prize. And a variety of other prizes. Let me also mention her first book another wonderful book about africanamerican women in the post emancipation south. So they have agreed to come here to talk with us specifically about the history of emancipation and the end of slavery during the civil war. A topic that was kind of always on peoples agenda for teaching and discussion, but was widely discussed earlier this summer on the anniversary of juneteenth. Thats what got started.
