The Democratic Civil Peace and Beyond: Scott Gates Interviewed by Nils Petter Gleditsch – PRIO Blogs

Posted Scott Gates as Director of the Centre for the Study of Civil War (CSCW) in 2009. Photo: Marit Moe-Pryce / PRIO ‘Strong critical theory doesn’t play a big role in peace science anymore, or even in peace studies’, states American political scientist Scott Gates in this conversation with his long-term collaborator Nils Petter Gleditsch. Scott calls for more and better recording of data disaggregated in time and space; more work that takes advantage of quasi-experimental designs and other methods through which we can better ascertain causal inference; and further use of data from social media to better appreciate such phenomena as the relationship between social media use and protest activities.

Morrow Family Medicine partners with VillageMD, expands services and care in Cumming Jim Morrow has practiced medicine in Cumming since 1998, eventually starting Morrow Family Medicine to bring care to the people of Forsyth County. Dr. Jim Morrow of Morrow Family Medicine announced a partnership with VillageMD on Tuesday, Jan. 12. VillageMD will be opening four new Village Medical clinics in the Atlanta area, two of which are  Morrow’s locations in Cumming and Milton and another two led by Dr. Clyde Watkins in Decatur and Lithonia.  “I came to realize that [VillageMD] was a group of people that had the same thoughts and goals as far as taking care of patients that I’ve had for my career,” Morrow said. “So when I started looking for opportunities to expand our services … VillageMD was the obvious company to look to.”

Always been a tool that has been used by african-american churches souls to the polls to vote is being taken away. we re also seeing the early voting dates reduced and, you know, and probably one of the most probably the worst bills is the felony disenfranchisement bill where people who have served their time under and had a felony conviction are now required to wait five years to determine whether or not they can get the right to vote back. it has to be a unanimous decision from the boards of elections and then you have to have two people to state that these people are of moral character. we don t want to get away from what north carolina is doing right now and how the what the impact will be on people of color and throughout the state and certainly as we look at it in other states are looking and watching too and that may be the bigger problem is that other states may try to do the same thing that north carolina is doing. and as i said and jim alluded to this, this is one of so
