LACONIA, N.H. The Lebanon-Stevens-Mount Royal boys hockey team finally opened its season on Thursday. The Raiders did just about everything but win.
Despite an early two-goal lead and a 41-17 advantage in shots on goal, Lebanon dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to Belmont-Gilford in an NHIAA Division III contest at Merrill Fay Arena. Eric Ellingson capped B-G’s comeback with the game-winning goal at 2:32 of the extra session.
Even with the defeat, Lebanon coach Jim Damren professed himself pleased with the night. Will McGee and Andrew Duany accounted for the Raiders’ goals, and Toby Cromwell made 14 saves in the Lebanon net.
