This is the bookstore i like to come to. It is an independent bookstore with great heart and also close to where the pendergrast enclave has lived for many many years. I grew up here in atlanta. I live in vermont now. But i come back here very frequently to see my mother who is right here. And my father who is very much involved in my research for this book. He read most of the manuscript and who died last year at the age of 99 1 2. I want to dedicate this whole talk to him and he was a wonderful, wonderful kind and generous man. A laughing gull made a brief appearance near the lighthouse at Presque Isle State Park on Tuesday. A white-crowned sparrow was spotted in Erie on Wednesday; they should be nesting on the Arctic tundra or in alpine meadows at this time of year! Some rather uncommon butterflies were observed this past week in Waterford including Compton’s tortoiseshell, Baltimore and Dion skipper. Wildflowers in bloom now are bee balm, purple coneflower, Canada lily, swamp rose, Venus looking glass, viper’s bugloss, jewelweed, hairy willow herb, creeping bellflower, Queen Anne’s lace, butterfly-weed, fringed loosestrife, Canada anemone, dewdrop, Asiatic dayflower, common plantain and sourwood tree.
