BENTON The Lake Hamilton girls basketball team overcame foul trouble and the shaky offense that followed to defeat Benton 45-40 on Tuesday night and moved into first place in the 5A-South Conference standings.
Benton outscored El Dorado 6-0 in the final 2:37 of the game Tuesday and downed the Lady Wildcats 35-29 in a 5A South defensive battle at Wildcat Arena. The Lady Panthers improved to 4-5 overall in their league opener. El Dorado slipped to 1-9, 0-2.
After his team had beaten Benton during a girls high school basketball game back in late November, Cabot Coach Jay Cook took a minute to evaluate what his team had just done to grab a road victory.
