One person is in custody in connection with the shooting the happened at 4:22 a.m.
The 22-year-old victim had a single gunshot wound to the upper torso. Springfield police officers began CPR on the victim while awaiting medical personnel. He was transported to HSHS St. John s Hospital.
Tavaris Douglas, 24, of Springfield was arrested at the scene for reckless conduct and transported to the Sangamon County Jail. He is in custody pending formal chargin by the Sangamon County state s attorney s office.
Reckless conduct is a class 4 felony.
Several witnesses were transported to the Springfield Police Department and interviewed by investigators.
A search warrant was obtained for the residence and a semi-automatic handgun was recovered from the scene.
