The Howard Board of Education is poised to vote Feb. 23 on whether push back school start times and district officials are looking at their eastern neighbor to see how proposed changes might play out.

The board decided to forgo vetting the bill through its legislative committee in order to come out with an official stance ahead of a Dec. 14 public hearing.
The decision on whether to activate a virtual instruction day would lie with Superintendent Michael Martirano, who said he prefers the virtual instruction plan over extending the school year into late June.
