nbc 10 breaking news. we begin with breaking news. a deadly standoff. two men are dead after a barricade situation ended. it all began when a suspect began firing shots at police on emerald sheet. s.w.a.t. was called out and neighbors were evacuated. drew smith is live at the scene. you are learning more about the men who fired at police. reporter: we know police arrived thinking they were dealing with an armed and dangerous ex-convict. you can see the crime scene unit collecting evidence. they say bullets were sprayed on to the street, some hitting police cars. the homicide unit is checking it out after a police robot found two men dead inside. they responded to a call of shots fired around 2:00. two officers arrived and immediately came under fire. a bullet went through the passenger side of their car, inches from police. they escaped the car and hid until an armored car arrived. the officers did not return fire. officers evacuated dozens of people, some through back wi
a young girl is in the hospital after getting pulled from a pond in delaware. police found the girl inside a retention pond just been 7:00 tonight. police say she wandered away from party on new london road. drew smith is live where the girl is being treated tonight and drew any word on her condition? reporter: the fire department told us when that girl was dropped off here to the emergency room she was unconscious. we have been checking with the hospital but right now there s further update on her condition. this all started shortly before 7:00. we are looking at video from the scene. you can see the newark police crime scene unit was there late into the night. this is in the george wilson community center. the fire department tells us a girl about four years old, she was at a party but wandered past the fence you re seeing in some of the video. she ended up in a pond past the tree line. it s unclear how long the child was under water but rescuers told us when they arrive
