With COVID-19 vaccines now being distributed, New Jerseyans are allowing themselves to look forward to the possibilities of a post-pandemic life. Here, through the eyes of photojournalist Jeff Rhode, we look back at one of hardest times of 2020, when Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, Bergen County, was at the epicenter of the pandemic. A longtime photojournalist in New Jersey, Rhode has been the staff photographer at Holy Name for the last eight years.

Michele Acito, the chief nursing officer at Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, worked 42 straight 12-hour days in March and April caring for patients, including her own mother-in-law, brother-in-law and sister-in-law.
