Madison s iconic State Street could be undergoing major changes
Downtown Madison Inc. wants the city to focus more on helping its local businesses.
They released a proposal to turn State Street into a pedestrian mall by eliminating all traffic.
They say that would allow businesses to expand into the street and people to move more freely. It s such an important street and has been throughout our history, President of Downtown Madison Inc. Jason Illstrup said. When people think Madison when you re not form here you think State Street. We need to do everything we can to help the local businesses to make sure State Street is open and welcome to everybody.
