In a night that combined steadfast traditions with unparalleled circumstances, the International Student House of Washington DC (ISH-DC) last month held its annual leadership awards ceremony online.
The Feb. 9 event honored Rep. Don Beyer (D-Virginia); his wife, journalist and activist Megan Beyer; and local businessman Robert J. Abernethy. The Beyers jointly received a Global Leadership Award, while Abernethy got a Global Educator Award.
Among those hosting the event were diplomatic chairs Domingo Fezas Vital, Portugal’s ambassador to the United States, and his wife, Isabel Vital, along with co-chairs James Blanchard, who was governor of Michigan and then US envoy to Canada from 1993 to 1996, and his wife Janet Blanchard, and Lisa Barry and James Gale.
Mar. 7—HAVERHILL — The man who police said attacked a woman and her pregnant daughter as they walked in their neighborhood last week, injuring one of them critically, was previously charged in three criminal cases — one involving violence against his girlfriend. The man's parents told investigators he has "mental health issues and anger issues," according to a police report detailing the case .

Kavanaugh is charged with armed assault to murder; assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury; assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, mayhem; and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, according to the Essex District Attorney s Office.
Kavanaugh is accused of running down two of his neighbors 54-year-old Janet Blanchard and her pregnant, 26-year-old daughter Geena Sindoni twice with his car and then stabbing the mother with a box cutter. Blanchard sustained cuts to both of her eyes and her neck.

Janet and former Gov. James Blanchard have established a new endowment to support post-secondary scholarships for 4-H’ers attending Michigan State University (MSU). The scholarship application will be open from March 1-31, 2021.

Janet and former Gov. James Blanchard have established a new endowment to support post-secondary scholarships for 4-H’ers attending Michigan State University (MSU).
“4-H is such a great program,” Janet said. “It’s a great program for kids to learn how to work together, run a meeting, learn Robert’s Rules of Order. It teaches you skills you can use.”
The Janet A. Blanchard 4-H Leadership Scholarship Endowment will provide scholarships for Michigan 4-H’ers enrolled as full-time MSU students pursuing an undergraduate degree in any major. Recipients must have been enrolled club members of Michigan 4-H Youth Development, demonstrated leadership and been involved in extracurricular activities prior to attendi
