The week before but they did for the week in this report, that fell by 11,000. this is the second straight week initial unemployment claims have fallen. the new government report says 448,000 unemployed people requested initial benefits last week, and that s down almost 30% from a year ago, and it continues a decent economic trend. the number of folks firing filing for unemployment is, for the most part, slowly on its way down, but some analysts say these benefit claims are falling too slowly, and the numbers show too many americans are still out of work. continuing unemployment claims that s requested benefits for two straight weeks or longer, also fell slightly. economists say these numbers could show the american economy is just about ready to begin creating new jobs. the most recent hiring report shows the u.s. added more than 160,000 jobs last month, but much of that includes temporary jobs, and those created for the u.s. census. also unemployment remains stubbornly high at 9.7%
