In the “spraying room” at Lego HQ, tiny figurines are layered with bright, glossy paint before being placed on a rainbow-esque arch. The result, a waterfall of colour with 11 brand new minifigures striding purposefully towards an imagined brighter future, is the Danish toymaker’s inaugural LGBTQIA+ set, titled Everyone Is Awesome.

It’s a historic first for the Danish toy company, Lego, who have created 11 rainbow characters to honour the LGBTQIA+ community.
The set, which is called ‘Everything Is Awesome’, features colours from the rainbow flag, as well as blue, white and pink to represent the trans community.
While black and brown skin tones have also been used to show the diversity of backgrounds within the LGBTQIA+ community.
The Lego characters have no gender, so that they ‘remain ambiguous and express individuality.’
