SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Wednesday expressed deep concern over the lackadaisical attitude of the government that has led to a grinding halt in developmental activities, black-marketing and an unprecedented escalation in prices of construction material across Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference here at Party office in Lal Chowk, Bukhari regretted the acute shortage of construction material that has led to illegal extraction and hoarding of construction material like sand, aggregate, gravel and stones causing immense sufferings to the general public.
The press conference was attended by Party’s senior vice president Ghulam Hassan Mir, Party’s general secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir and Party’s provincial president Kashmir province Mohammad Ashraf Mir. ....

Will Hit Streets If Statehood Not Restored, Threatens Apni Party
SRINAGAR: Stating that Article 370 can be restored only by the parliament, J&K Apni Party chief Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari Monday said that they will not hesitate to hit the streets if New Delhi fails to restore the Statehood to the J&K UT.
Addressing media men as per news agency KNO, on the occasion of the first foundation day anniversary, J&K Apni party chief said that much was promised in 1947, but nothing was given back. “We have to fight for the restoration of statehood to J&K. Our demand also is to hold Assembly elections as soon as possible,” Bukhari said, adding that “This is the pledge Apni Party is taking on the eve of the first foundation of the party.” ....

Former Congress leader Hilal Shah, councillors, panchs join Apni Party
On this significant joining ceremony, 21 councillors of MCA, eight Sarpanchs, 40 Panchs, three Block Presidents, 18 Halqa Presidents and scores of political workers from District Anantnag joined Apni Party.
Welcoming Hilal Ahmad Shah and his associates including 21 councillors and various Panchayat representatives into the party-fold, Bukhari said that Apni Party is committed to working for the equitable development of Jammu and Kashmir and would take all measures to ensure the welfare of the people.

The exit of the People’s Conference has seemingly left the PAGD adrift. The five-party alliance including big players like National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party have not met for nearly two months now.
Seemingly, the PAGD is disinterested in the elections to the chairpersons and vice-chairpersons which they have lost in six out of 13 where they had the mandate when results were declared on December 22 last year. The alliance also hasn’t appointed a new official spokesperson since Sajad Gani Lone left. ....
