Governor Godwin Obaseki had initiated the project through a deal with the state government, EDSOGPADEC and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Permanent Secretary of EDSOGPADEC, James Ufumwen, confirmed that the commission had, in a recent meeting, decided to commence work on the project.

The road project would receive attention after initial delay when the NDDC failed to honour its part of the agreement on the reconstruction of the road.
With the new drive by EDSOGPADEC, thousands of people who ply the road from Benin to Abraka would heave a sigh of relief, as there had been repeated complaints in the past over the state of the road. ....
