What happens when your Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star jet blows its single engine at 26,000 feet when flying from Kansas City, Missouri, to Waco, Texas, at 350 miles per hour?
Community members packed out the South Waco Library on Friday for the unveiling of 15 permanent wall displays honoring influential Hispanic Wacoans on the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Black History Month inspires Fairfield man to tell his Vietnam War story
FAIRFIELD Alexander Underwood listened intently when his high school history teacher recounted his time as a Navy pilot during World War II.
“He used to talk to our history class about what he experienced when he was flying in the Navy, especially the (Battle of the) Coral Sea,” Underwood said.
It inspired the teenager to perhaps become a pilot.
“Then he dropped the bomb on me, that he never saw a Black pilot,” Underwood said.
