BATU PAHAT: The General Operations Force (GOF) has arrested a local man after seizing 66 cartons containing cans of beer worth more than RM22,000 at a food court here.
Its Fifth Battalion commanding officer Supt Dimin Awang said the 44-year-old suspect was arrested at around 6pm on Monday (Feb 1).
“Based on information from the public, a team of GOF officers and personnel carried out an inspection at the premises located along Jalan Mohd Akil here. The team successfully found 66 cartons with cans of beer, and the Customs duty was unpaid, ” he said.
Supt Dimin added in a statement here on Tuesday (Feb 2) that the suspect also tried to bribe the GOF personnel to avoid action being taken against him.
