Carlisle man pleads guilty in relation to overdose deaths

Baishi Bailey, of Carlisle, delivered fentanyl-laced drugs to four people who later died of overdoses in 2020. He was sentenced to eight to 24 years in prison.

Mar 17, 2021 Waunetah M. Powell, 94, of Mifflintown, passed away at 11:24 a.m., on Monday, March 15, 2021, at her residence. Born on April 24, 1926, on Bell Island, Fermanagh Twp., Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late Ira and Margaret (Snouffer) Dean. On April 22, 1979, she married her surviving husband, Frederick C. “Fred” Powell with whom she was blessed to share over 41 years of marriage. In addition to her husband, she is survived by: her daughters, Evelyn Price and her husband Jeff of Mifflintown and Vicki Van Horn and her husband Steven of Mifflin; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Bates in October, 2020, and a granddaughter, Jackie Berrier.
