Leave it to playing on Friday the 13th for the Hillsboro Indians to not only have their marching band play “Thriller” at halftime, but to end the game in thrilling fashion, as a late missed field goal by the visiting Miami Trace Panthers led to the Indians winning by a 14-13 score in Week 9.
It was one of the most complete games played by the Hillsboro Indians thus far for the 2023 season, as the Indians used some “thunder and lightning” in their rushing game and played game-changing defense as Hillsboro went on the road and defeated the host East Clinton Astros, 32-12 in Week 5.
Hillsboro and Portsmouth West both scored within the first two minutes of their Week 3 football game and went on to combine for 83 points, with five touchdowns scored in the second quarter. Despite several big-yardage plays for the Indians, including on special teams, Hillsboro fell to the host Portsmouth West Senators, 49-34 Friday.
