Ray said the new CDC guidelines will make traveling a little easier now knowing there is an extra layer of protection to keep him and his wife safe. Now, he s just hoping everyone else will follow suit. “Hopefully everybody has the vaccinations,” Ray Ellender said. As of Friday in the region, Jasper County with the highest percentage at 19% and Liberty County with the lowest percentage at 9 percent. While it may be safe to travel for those who are fully vaccinated the CDC is not encouraging traveling at this time. ....

It has been one of the greatest honors of my life and public service tenure to have served as Jefferson County Commissioner of Precinct 2, he said in a Facebook post Jan. 26. Weaver was elected to the position in 2010, he said. My constituents have always given me their support, but also let me know when they disagreed with me, he said. Both were always needed and appreciated. I pledge to continue to carry out our mission with safety, pride, and professionalism until I leave office. ....

Stockman was convicted by a jury of the astounding total of 23 counts brought against him. The list included fraud, money laundering, violating federal election law, lying on a tax return and spying on political rivals. Prosecutors said he used $1.25 million in charitable funds for personal use. ....
