The Izard County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a man after deputies were called about an alleged assault of a female, the department said on social media Monday.
Deputies made contact with a woman had been taken to the Calico Rock Medical Center for treatment for several severe wounds. After speaking with the victim, deputies then made contact with 29-year-old Robert Stowers of Dolph, who was brought to the Izard County Sheriff’s Office for further questioning.
Stowers reportedly told officers he could not remember what happened between him and the female, but did remember striking her for allegedly lying to him and that she might have lost consciousness during the assault.

HORSESHOE BEND, Ark. (KAIT) - A man drowned Friday in the Crown Lake area of Horseshoe Bend, according to authorities.
The Izard County Sheriff’s Department said on Facebook that authorities got a call around 10:50 a.m. April 30 about the drowning.
“Charlie LaFevers, 38, of Salem was pulled into the spillway when he was attempting to unclog a drain from the recent flooding,” Chief Deputy Charley Melton said.

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office will participate in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency’s National Take-Back Day this weekend.
Sheriff’s deputies will be in the parking lot of Orscheln Farm and Home on Saturday from 10 to 2 to accept any unwanted, unused, and potentially dangerous controlled substances and over-the-counter medications from Twin Lakes Area residents. In addition to Saturday’s event, people may use the secure drop box at 206 West 8th Street that is accessible at all times. IZARD COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) - A northeast Arkansas sheriff says scammers are doing triple-duty to steal money from citizens.
According to a news release shared on social media, the Izard County Sheriff’s Department warns someone has been calling residents claiming to be with Social Security.
“Then someone else claiming to be with the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) gets on the phone,” the release stated. “Another person gets on the phone using the name of a deputy with the sheriff’s department.”
