The deputy leader of West Norfolk Council has been urged to apologise after she suggested campaigners had misused confidential information relating to a Lynn arts complex.
Elizabeth Nockolds made the claim as she defended the authorityâs handling of the St Georgeâs Guildhall at a meeting last night.

During public questions at Thursdayâs full council meeting, the trustâs chairman, Ivor Rowlands, said: âWe want to work with and support all other parties to make the Guildhall sustainable and cease it to be a burden on the borough councilâs finances.

A distinguished Shakespeare scholar and historian has joined in the debate about the future of Lynnâs historic St Georgeâs Guildhall and made an offer of help and support.
Professor Michael Dobson, director of the Shakespeare Institute at Stratford, had raised questions about West Norfolk Councilâs role after it failed to get Government grants for it.
He said that the eyes of Shakespeare and theatre history would be on Lynn.

But he has followed this up with a message of goodwill, following assurances from senior council figures, and is offering to make the expertise of the Institute available to campaigners.

Stephen Fry is backing a new vision to conserve the only surviving theatre where Shakespeare performed.
But the proposals were turned down. It comes after bids for lottery funding for the 15th Century building were also turned down in 2017 and 2019.
Now the Shakespeare s Guildhall Trust has published its own proposals for the future of the landmark, which stretches from King Street to the Great Ouse waterfront and includes a theatre where Shakespeare is believe to have trod the boards in 1591.
