doesn t it? welcome back. the president is expected back in washington on tuesday. no more fireworks, no more beaches after that. he was two weeks in hawaii. the holiday trip now an annual tradition for him. mike viqueira is also a tradition now. he follows the president to honolulu. that s exactly right, my friend. how are you doing? reporter: those fireworks were a mere 6 1/2 hours ago here at the beach in waikiki. the president is on the other side of the island in a community called kailua. the president grew up here other than those four years in indonesia, on the leeward side of the island. he s a proud graduate of the high school. if you spend any time here, which you probably have, it really does not take long before you get into that island rhythm, that island mentality and even an island empathy, the way you look at the rest of the world. we prepared this little post card from hawaii to sort of give you a glimpse perhaps inside the president s upbringing.
