LAHORE: The Pakistan cricket team management has decided to test its bench strength  in the upcoming Zimbabwe series by resting senior players and giving the youngsters a chance to prove themselves.  Sources told Geo News the team management has decided to adopt a rotation policy in the Zimbabwe cricket series. Pakistan play their first T20 match of the three-match series against Zimbabwe on April 21. Shaheen Shah Afridi, who has been leading the country s pace attack for several tours consistently, will be rested while fast bowler Hassan Ali will be rotated.

The team members that were in South Africa reached Harare from Johannessburg through a chartered flight. All squad members of the Pakistan team tested negative at their arrival in Harare (Zimbabwe). The Covid-19 tests were conducted on cricketers at their arrival in South Africa where the team continuously stayed in the ‘Bubble’. “All tests results that were conducted on the visiting team on arrival on Saturday in Harare have returned negative. The test results were released on Sunday,” an official accompanying the team when approached said.

The PCB official said Younis had to leave immediately for Australia as his wife is set to undergo surgery after Ramadan. He had to leave urgently as a 14-day quarantine is necessary after arriving at the country. Due to the given circumstances, Waqar Younis will be unable to render his services to the national team. He will resume his duties after returning to Pakistan from Australia, he said.
