However, to understand exactly why this is, it s important to take a look at the neighbourhood s history.  It used to be called Elia The area was originally inhabited by a First Nations tribe in the 1400s. For over a century they lived along the banks of the Humber River. According to Neighbourhood Guide, the First Nations village existed from 1400 to 1550.
