Indian River Library Works on Upgrades Thanks to Millage

9 & 10 News July 13, 2021 The Indian River Library has started upgrading after they passed a millage in the May 4 election. The millage costs taxpayers an extra $40 a year for every $100,000 of taxable revenue on their home. It’s allowed for technology improvements such as new computers and online resources. They’re also working on two new community rooms they hope will be used frequently by the public. President of the Library, David Hill said without the millage days and hours of operation would have gone down, but now they’ll be open longer and more often. “Revenue was decreasing like a lot of libraries and our expenses were increasing so we thought we’d give the taxpayers a chance to support their library to a greater extent and that happened,” said Hill.
