India has been raising concerns about these vessels with Sri Lanka for some time now, amid speculation that they are used to track Indian military tests and survey strategically important waters.
During his farewell call on Prime Minister Gunawardena on December 10, the outgoing Indian envoy thanked the Sri Lankan leader for the unstinted support extended to him during his tenure to strengthen age-old friendly ties between the two countries, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.
