That was shingai nyoka in harare for us. hopewell chin ono is an award winning journalist and documentary film maker in harare. he says the zimbabwe election was marred by number voting irregularities. it wasn t a surprise that president mnangagwa s party and his administration would rig the election. it wasn t a surprise that the way they rigged the election was so brazen, because they have done that in the past. you had a situation where in areas which are mainly opposition strongholds, they didn t have election material, that is ballot papers, for over 12 hours, and this was a form of rigging, called voter suppression where voters end up giving up and they go home without voting. you had a situation in rural areas which are stronghold of the ruling zanu pf, strongholds in the sense they are able to manipulate the electorate there using food hand outs and fear and intimidation.
