A man who tried to grab a CHP officer's gun during an altercation on Interstate 8 in Mission Valley, leaving the officer with a gunshot to a leg, was sentenced to nearly 23 years in state prison.
The good samaritans jumped in after a CHP officer was shot on the side of the 8 freeway in San Diego, both restraining the suspect and also giving medical aid to the officer.
