THE third edition of the Red-Line Youth Track Classic brought out multiple record-breaking performances this past weekend at the original Thomas A Robinson Stadium.

The Hurry Murray track club rounded up victories in three out of eight divisions at the two-day meet and last club meet for the season. They won the under-7 division with a total of 52 points. The host club was second with 39 points and Speed Capacity Maximised finished third at 34 points.

It was a holiday weekend this past weekend but that did not stop the kiddies from coming out and participating in the Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (BAAA) Age Group Trials and Kids Athletics Championships at the original Thomas A. Under the theme: “Track is Back,” the Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations hosted its first track and field meet since the coronavirus pandemic broke out in March.
The BAAA, in closing out what has been a dramatic year of postponements and cancellations of various local and international sporting events, staged the Odd Distance Track and Field Meet at the Thomas A Robinson National Stadium on Saturday.
“We’ve been planning for the COVID-19 environment since the lockdown and we recognised very early that certain things had to be in place,” said BAAA president Drumeco Archer. “We’ve been in communication with the Competent Authority, giving them the assurance that we could do this and we could do this well.”
