As COVID-19 case numbers continue to decline in Howard County, and vaccination rates remain one of the highest in the state, the county’s Board of Education is holding firm in its stance that a mask-wearing mandate in public schools will remain until the county’s COVID-19 transmission rates are consistently “low” or “moderate” for a 14-day period.
Howard school system Superintendent Michael Martirano said the district’s plan is for the limited in-person small group support that was being provided in the fall to restart Feb. 1.
