Coming to address the scale of damage from hurricane ida. It made land fall as a category four slamming into the coast with devastating wind and rain. It is one of the most powerful hurricanes to ever hit the mainland. Officials say at least two people were killed. Search and rescue operations are still underway in communities along the gulf. Ida came on shore with everything that was advertised. Yep. The surge, the rain, the wind. All of our levy systems, particularly federal systems performed magnificently. Having said that, the damage is still catastrophic. Catastrophic. The storm devastated the electrical grid. More than a million customers without power in louisiana including the city of new orleans. The city s mayor issued a warning today for residents who fled ahead of the storm. Don t come back until further notice. We will have much more on the night s other major story just ahead. But first ali is live for us in new orleans. You are virtually in the dark, a city in the dark.

Siege in harrowing detail recounting the trauma they endured at the hands of violent insurrectionists. Listen, some of what you re about to see and hear is quite disturbing. What i witnessed and experienced on january 6th, 2021, was unlike anything i had ever seen. On january 6, for the first time i was more afraid to work at the capitol than my entire deployment to iraq. Until then, i had never seen anyone physically assault capitol police or mpd let alone witness mass assaults being perpetrated on law enforcement officers. What we were subjected that day was like something from a medieval battle. We fought hand to hand, inch by inch, to prevent an invasion of the capitol by a violent mob intent on subverting our democratic process. At some point during the fighting, i was dragged from the line of officers and into the crowd. I heard someone scream. I got one. As i was swarmed by a violent mob, they ripped off my badge and i heard people in the crowd yelling, get his gun. Kill him wit

To the insurrection and how it happened and what was president trump s role was? one officer made this striking comment about who sent the hit man. If a hit man is hired and he kills somebody, the hit man goes to jail, but not only does the hitman goes to jail, the person who hires them does. It was an attack on january 6th and a hitman sent them, i want you to get to the bottom of that. A hitman sent them. That s a legal statement there. It goes to the fact that in our system of laws, there is accountability above and beyond just the individual people who may carry out of that or beat someone or pull a trigger, those who went them. That mob was summoned directly by donald trump. The officers recounted their stories of what happened and what was done and what was done to them and the ongoing pain and trauma on january 6th. Many of us seen the ugly videos on the news and online. Until today we have not heard directly from these officers. I can feel myself losing oxygen and recalled and
