CAMPAIGNERS have started a petition calling for the county council to build a pavement on a busy road in Cam. A significant stretch of Upthorpe, in Cam, does not have a pavement and residents say it is treacherous for pedestrians. They now want to raise awareness about how dangerous it is. Julia Newman, who started the petition, said walking along Upthorpe “can be treacherous, particularly with a pushchair or young children”. The road, which is well used by pedestrians, is fairly narrow and is on a hill, and there is limited visibility in places. “Traffic does tend to speed along the road, despite signs,” said Julia.
