Empty house in Cornwall to be bought by council to reuse

File image of an empty house. Picture: copyright free from pxhere.com Cornwall Council has agreed to buy an empty house so that it can be brought back into use. The council’s Cabinet agreed to buy the property in Redruth using compulsory purchase powers so that it can either renovate and reuse the home or sell it so that it can be used as a house once again. Full details of the location of the property have not been released but the council said that it had been “long-term empty”. A report to Cabinet stated: “Redruth is a key settlement with evident local housing need, and the aim is to facilitate bringing the empty property and associated land back into habitable use, while also alleviating associated problems and community concerns.”
