The owner told IBJ he can’t afford to pay increased rent prices at the building where beer first was bottled in 1904. But the landlord said the brewery had been paying below-market rent that needed to be renegotiated.
The Indianapolis-based brewery is slated to have its equipment sold at auction next month, but it continues to look for new ownership prior to the sale.
Indiana City Brewing Co. owners say their on-site taproom on the city’s near-east side will remain open and fully operational throughout the sale process.
