Spartanburg experienced its first freezing weather of the season last week and that left many without a home looking for a place to stay.
Miracle Hill Ministries shelter at 189 N. Forest St., has been helping those in need of a warm place to stay for years. The shelter pulls out beds and uses several areas to accommodate people, but its mission has become more challenging because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The shelter was able to house up to 80 people, but social distancing requirements means the shelter can t accommodate the same amount of people. We have been practicing social distancing so to do it correctly we have enough space for 44 people, said Calvin Vinson, Miracle Hill Ministries facility director. We are doing the best we can, but sometimes it s difficult to maintain social distancing. We are not going to let anybody freeze and are doing what we can.
