While high-density orchards offer significant benefits in yield and fruit quality, growers should not expect constant high prices. Despite initial challenges, more orchards are converting to high-density, with 2023 expected to be a substantial year. However, challenges remain, such as the lack of local high-density nurseries. Some growers are experimenting with grafting high-yield varieties onto traditional rootstocks, offering an alternative to completely replacing traditional orchards. Emotions and generational conflicts also play a role in resisting change.
