This water main break on roosevelt shut down all lanes yesterday and all but one lane is open this morning. Jesse gary is live with more on the status of the work there. Reporter tracy, crews will return later this morning to try to finish the job of replacing a section of the 16inch pipe that failed. That break in the transmission main made a watery muddy mess for commuters yesterday. All lanes of the boulevard at bluegrass road were closed due to flooding and debris on the roadway. The only vehicles out for most of the morning were frontend loaders and street sweepers clearing the mess. The Water DepartmentOfficials Say seasonal temperatures lead to this type of problem. This time of year the Water Department sees the highest number of water main breaks. The cold temperatures are usually the culprit. Reporter this ....

That is right that code blue has been lifted but it is still pretty darn cold out here. The snow came and went but the cold definitely left behind. Make sure you dress and drive, smart. Higher rate of broek broken water main breaks. Reporter the Water Department says with bitter arctic cold coming this week its the season. December through march we have the highest volume of breaks we have crews working 12hour shifts, six days a week. As breaks come in were able to respond as quickly as possible. Reporter he says the plan is to try to get those center southbound lanes open within the next 30 to 40 minutes to get a little traffic flow at rush hour. As far as those center northbound lanes, that is probably going to be closed as they continue the repairs to that water main. They believe it will be through 8 00 tonight before they can get the center northbound lanes open and hope to have everything cleaned up by the morning rush. Doug shimell, nbc10.
