PHOENIX â Two animal shelter volunteers recently tied the knot at the very shelter where they first met, the Arizona Animal Welfare League (AAWL).
Heather LaBelle and Scott Manicki met in 2018 and got to know each other during their Rural Rescue Runs on the weekends. The volunteers drove to rural areas of Arizona to rescue abandoned, hoarded or homeless animals.
After becoming engaged in November 2019, they canceled their plans for a big wedding due to the pandemic. That s when they decided to get married at the same place that sparked their romance.
