GROVELAND, Fla – Two days after opening, a vaccine site at a Groveland Amazon distribution center will no longer offer first doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
The Department of Health-Lake County released a statement Friday reading, “Due to overwhelming demand for 2nd doses, 1st doses will no longer be available at the Groveland Amazon site.”

ORLANDO, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis plans to bring a “vaccine pod” to Central Florida, targeting a retirement community in Polk County.
The governor made the announcement Wednesday during a media briefing in Hillsborough County. The pod is set to arrive at Solivita in Polk County on Thursday, though no other details were offered.

The pods are part of the governor’s “seniors first” plan to target Florida’s 65 and older population for vaccination.

Florida Department of Health Lake County said first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be administered in the morning. Then only second doses of the Pfizer vaccine in the afternoon.
“This site is first come first served and it’s open until further notice,” Aaron Kissler with FDOH Lake County said.

Lake County officials have resumed COVID-19 vaccinations on Wednesday after closing this week because they ran out of doses.
LAKE COUNTY, Fla. - Lake County officials have resumed COVID-19 vaccinations on Wednesday after closing this week because they ran out of doses.
Department of Health officials said they received 12,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine and began vaccinating again at 9 a.m. at the Clermont Arts and Recreation Center.
The county was having trouble distributing vaccines all week because they have been waiting for more doses.
