Pakistan s total number of confirmed coronavirus infections passed 900,000 on Sunday after the country reported 3,084 new cases in the last 24 hours. The country s coronavirus positivity rate fell to more than two months low on Sunday, the Ministry of National Health Services said. The authorities detected 3,084 new cases after 62,061 tests in the last 24 hours, showing a positivity rate of 4.97 per cent, which is lowest than the 4.53 per cent recorded on March 9. The death toll rose to 20,251. The authorities have started vaccination of people of 30 years and above age from Saturday. So far over 5 million doses have been administered, according to Advisor on Health Faisal Sultan. ....

Pakistan to start inoculating people aged 40-49 against COVID-19 Xinhua 29 Apr 2021, 22:30 GMT+10 ISLAMABAD, April 29 (Xinhua) Chairman of Pakistan s National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) Asad Umar said on Thursday that starting from May 3, the vaccination against COVID-19 will be open to people aged between 40 and 49 in the Asian country. While expressing satisfaction at the pace of registration for vaccination, Umar said on Twitter that Thursday marked the second successive day with more than 100,000 vaccinations in the country. Earlier on Tuesday, Pakistan opened the registration for COVID-19 vaccination for the 40-49 age group and also allowed walk-in vaccination of all registered citizens in 50-plus age group. ....
