This has been such a contentious issue we saw the whole drama play out with the House Intelligence Committee and their Top Republican leader devin nunes came, saw the material. Out of the protocol of that committee and them adam schiff, came and looked at the same material. Theres answers about this coming from the white house first from the Deputy Press Secretary who says there was no attempt to keep adam schiff responsible. Not that im aware of at all. I think the bigger point is theres something there. Wed love to come see it which is exactly what we said. It turns out if theres something of substance for him to know about, we want him to
see it. Frarjly i think if there wasnt something of sub stns, he would have walked out that moment from the white house and come out and declared that this was a big waste of time and a big dog and pony show. He didnt do that. He doesnt do that. Its very telling in what he probably saw on friday.
well, i don t want to say. but we ll be announcing something today. we ll be announcing something today. and, jake, just as soon as we said that, we do indeed have breaking news that the secretary tom price has indeed resigned. just as we were told it would happen, that he would resign, i m told the president is prepared, of course, to accept this resignation here. this again as we heard was about optics. was about the whole idea of draining the swamp, saving taxpayer money simply was not done in this case. the president was disappointed furious at him. also, of course, tom price was the long-term house member, the physician who was supposed to lead the health care reform effort, that of course failed. he wasn t able to get that off of the ground and he now has offered his resignation, has resigned and the president we are expecting to accept that rest i resignation, and of course the
joining me now is a different senator. chris van holland of maryland. senator, thank you very much for joining us here. let me pick up off of senator graham. because he also told nbc news that he spoke for about a half an hour with president trump today about the now-failed for health care reform effort. can you say the gop effort to repeal and replace obamacare is dead this year? well, it s done between now and the end of this month. they were obviously pushing really quickly to try to blow up the affordable care act before the time ran out on the package this month. but the reality is they may be back at this again next year. we don t know. we ll have a better idea letter this week when they put together their budget proposal. and that will give us a signal as to whether they ll take another run at trying to destroy the affordable care act. democrats clearly see this as something to mobilize around over the next year with regards to 2018, for example.
yes, it has been quite a scene. there s been a bunch of arrest. people yelling. no cuts to mellow day. kill the bill, that sort of thing talking to folks that if they do not listen to what the police are saying, they have it will be handcuffed and taken out. we ll have numbers, but you get a sense for my audio, the people yelling all around me. here we are as republicans are looking at this health care reform effort. suddenly, the protesting has quieted down. there they go, okay. this is a critical week. the fiscal year ends this week. if they have to pay sit they have to do it by the end of the fiscal year which is saturday. that makes it a critical time. the trying to get this one hearing to have some debate for or against the bill today. it is not clear how successful they will be, how late they ll be willing to go in terms of trying to make this happen, but
